I was thinking of switching to OneDrive from S3 to store my data, but some people tried to talk me out of it. I’m interested to know why OneDrive is not as good as S3 for data storage.

Currently, OneDrive API is not mature enough to support all functionality that we have with other storage options, like Amazon S3. For example, it does not support compression and encryption.

OneDrive lets you sync files between more than one computer. Or you can use it to keep data backed up in case if your computer crashes or if you have to reinstall Windows. You can use 5 GB for free but for more you need to pay for it. When you save a file on your OneDrive, it saves it to their servers also so in any case if a file was deleted while OneDrive isn't runninng, you can recover it, for example if you have to format and reinstall Windows, pret shirts online you just sign in with your Microsoft account and it will redownload all of your files that are saved to your OneDrive.
