Right. We made this dependence in 5.9 in order to avoid cases where ransomware can rename files and, therefore, the backup agent can delete data from a backup destination that you don't expect because of using the "Delete files that have been deleted locally" option. It is not evident - we are going to return option back and disable it with a clear explanation to avoid any confusion. Thanks!

Please give a link to the example that you used. I would ask you to send diagnostic logs (go to Tools | Diagnostic, use Send to Support; put a short description of the issue and a forum url there) so that we can check the details.

Could you please send diagnostic logs to let us investigate your case. The "Failed" status is considered as a global backup failure. If you have some files as successful and some failures, it completes with "Completed with warnings".

Sorry for the misinformation - we were able to support exlcude disks feature for VMware backup. The Hyper-V is coming next. Thanks a lot for providing the workaround here! We really appreaciate your input!

Thank you for the details of your scenario. I have submitted the feature request for a granular restore by hard drives. We continue collecting customers requests so that it will allow us to prioritize the feature.

Please find the answers below:
1. The hybrid backup is designed to run local backup at first then to cloud. If your local storage device (USB drive in your example) is corrupted or unavailable, the hybrid won't run a cloud backup.
2. The drive replacing scenario will work - the only thing you should do before continuing your hybrid backup is to change your existing File Storage account that linked to the USB drive to a new one and specify the same backup prefix for it (see "Advanced settings"). Once it is done, your previous local backups will be synced and you can continue with the hybrid backup. You can find the main idea of replacing & sync here.
3. Your calculations are correct. It sounds reasonable to have at least 2 full backups.
