I am backing up an a Windows server using imaged based back up. I have tried downloading the restoring the image as an VDI and VHD file. When I boot to the image in VirtualBox, I get this error and the OS never loads. "FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted". Should I expect to VirtualBox to load the OS successfully?

    Hi, .
Is your server virtual? Is it MBR or GPT?
My best guess would be that if you try to switch the partition type, it should work, otherwise, I'll need more info from you.
Can you please check it and let me know?
    Thanks

    Hi Anton,

The disk is GPT. The server is physical. While I was looking at the disk properties, I noticed that there are three partitions on the disk. C:, E:, and an EFI partition. The E drive is not included in the imaged based backup. Could that be causing the issue?

I was able to get the restore file working. I exported it to VHDX and opened it with Hyper-V. Not sure why VirtualBox didn't work.
