    Do you know if there is any future release that will allow restoration of image files into a VmWare Cloud on AWS environment?

    It's not a scenario that's been tested at this time but if your AWS VMware environment can "see" your S3 storage bucket containing your backups, it might be possible to restore the image as a VMware VM. Again, this hasn't been tested and is just conjecture at this point.
