    I found this an interesting thread -- and the suggestion to use the task scheduler is helpful.

    But still -- two things seem to be obvious suggestions;
    1) Backup when the system is idle. Not sure how to define "idle" when a computer can have so may tasks running, so that may be problematic but "in theory" a backup that starts when idle and pauses when in use is available on other platforms. Windows Client could tie into whether the screen saver is on, but clearly that's unworkable on servers...

    2) A function on the control panel where we now have "pause and stop" might have a third option "throttle on-off"? that way I can throttle my backup 8am to 5pm but when I know I'll be out for the day I can override JUST for the purposes of this backup?

    You can do some of the latter now in the product. See Bandwidth in Options. You can set a schedule as desired. No override however. I'll make a note for the team.
