Why do more off-site full backups after initial one?
I'm strictly looking to do off-site image based backups using CloudBerry. When setting up the backup plan to run this on a daily basis, it says that I should also run a full backup once a month.
I'm coming from using another backup program on-site where you do an initial full backup, and then only incremental backups for the rest of time. Then there is a tool that automatically collapses and merges incremental backups together based on the retention schedule. There is never a need to do another full backup.
I was hoping to do something very similar with the off-site backup using CloudBerry where I would not have to do anymore full backups after the initial full backup because a full backup would take a very long time to accomplish again. For example, I have one system that says it will take 2 months to complete an initial full backup. If I were to schedule another full backup like the software suggests each month, that means that it would take another 2 months for that next full backup to complete right?
My goal is to do one initial backup to the cloud, then just do incrementals going forward. Is this possible and reliable? How would I accomplish this and still have a good backup to pull from if I need to do a bare metal recovery?

Synthetic full backups are supported on AWS S3 and Wasabi. They generally run much faster, but I can only assume based on the 2 Month estimate that you are either severely constrained in your upstream bandwidth or the images are very large (or a combination). The synthetic fulls use the existing full backup already in cloud storage along with the incremental backups to create a new full without having to upload everything again. They run much faster, but I cannot estimate how long it would take for your particular case.
If you're not using S3 or Wasabi, then you can adjust the full backup schedule to run less frequently, but understand that when you do this, your retention will likely consume more cloud storage space as it's impossible to delete old Full+Diffs until the new full is created and enough days have passed that we can meet the retention requirements.
Another option is to use CloudBerry for file backup to the cloud to protect the important files and run your image backups locally where bandwidth is not a concern.

I'm currently experimenting with Backblaze but from your suggestions I'm guessing they might not support Synthetic Full Backups like Amazon and Wasabi. If I were to switch my backup location to Wasabi, do I have to do anything special to enable Synthetic Full Backups? Can you provide a link talking about Synthetic Backups?
Some more about my different clients: Many have low upload speeds (1.5 Mb to 15 Mb) and in the past I was only uploading critical file shared data to the cloud. In the instance of 2 months to complete the initial backup, that client has about 830GB and a 1.5 Mb upload speed. Between my 28 clients they currently backup about 6.5TB of just critical files. However, now that I'm seeing how cheap cloud storage is, I thought I would try and do full image based backups of servers vs. just critical data.
So it sounds like if I did Wasabi with Cloudberry I could setup my backup plan to do a full Synthetic Backup each month and incrementals in between. This would then satisfy having a full server backup in the cloud, and as long as there is not tremendous change in the data, they should be quick to do the full backups?
To enable synthetic fulls, simply check the "Synthetic Full Backup" option on the Full Backup Options tab in the wizard.
Agree on your later points. The issue is going to be the initial full backup for those customers with slow upstream links. As I mentioned, one alternative is to use file backups to the cloud and image backup locally to a NAS.
Another is to seed the data by backing up locally to a NAS/external drive and then bringing that drive to your place of business where you have better bandwidth and uploading to cloud storage and then changing some parameters for the customer's backup plans. This help article describes the method (you can review) but I'm waiting on a reply from the team to confirm whether one of the steps is still needed. I'll reply here once I hear back.
Regarding the article on seeding the data. it still applies, but you can eliminate the "Modifying Data Structure in the Storage" section as the data is now backed up across targets in a consistent manner. BUT... you need to change the customer's plans to use the cloud storage after the backup and upload is complete, and then run a repository sync on the storage account so the agent is aware of what data now exists in the cloud.
