  • Schedule config hanging with "Exec edit plan command"
2 year old issue... and I just hit it today with the latest and greatest version.

I discovered that all my backup plans were missing again, tried to make a test plan, and when clicking 'done' it went and hung on that "exec edit plan command" popup. Killed the app, tried again, same thing.
  • And in today's CBB silent failure...
Have tried multiple times, the feedback UI just spins after clicking 'send'.

This most recent attempt has been spinning for 5 minutes.
  • And in today's CBB silent failure...
I've disabled the cloudberry-backup and cloudberry-backupWA launch daemons to disable the services and keep it from spinning my system. Of course now I don't have any backups running...
  • And in today's CBB silent failure...
There are only 3 lines in the out.err file:

  • And in today's CBB silent failure...
Last successful runs were on March 7th.
Rebooting didn't fix anything, cbbLocalManagement still hits 100% cpu usage. It is at 22:22.61 cpu time and I've only been rebooted for 30 minutes at this point.

The app no longer shows any of my backup plans, I have no idea where they went but I had set up like 20 of them.
  • Suddenly failing back blaze uploads
Just filed the tickets. I think 252736 would be the one for this thread.

As for turning off, it is a desktop mac that is set to prevent sleep and never put the hard drives to sleep. No scheduled sleeps or restarts on this machine.

The other backups from this machine are all scheduled for 1am or 2am on different days. This log was from 11pm, so it must have been one of the times I manually ran a backup as part of trying to test this software before going to bed.
  • Yet another set of failures... Too many files, lmao
Just created 2 tickets. I wasn't able to select which logs it attached, hopefully it grabbed the right ones lol.

I think 252734 was the one for this thread.
  • Obfuscated filenames
Is this in a roadmap with an eta? Or just in the backlog?
  • Root as a default or GUI-selectable option
I get that you can change the ownership via the command line, my point is this should be a GUI option. Require admin password to be entered at the time of changing it, that's how most apps deal with this kind of thing. But as long as this 'hidden' from the user, people are going to have files missed in their backups.

Also note that I had to use staff, not wheel.
  • What's new - Backup for macOS v 2.9.4.12
FYI, I updated and immediately the app wouldn't launch because my license key wasn't valid. I pasted it in several times, it always said 'nope'. Eventually I had to use the website to do an "offline activation" using the exact same key and that got it to work again.

So anyone who is upgrading, make sure you try to run it after upgrading - don't just assume that your backups are going to continue to function!
  • Root as a default or GUI-selectable option
Hmm, interestingly changing the group to 'staff 'made the worker processes run as root.

'Wheel' is basically root, and 'staff' is definitely not just root it is all users (or at least all mac users marked as admins, I forget)
  • Root as a default or GUI-selectable option
Actually setting the owner of the plan file doesn't seem to be impacting anything.

In this screenshot you'll see that I am running 3 plans right now and they are all running as my user account. (which is an admin, but still seems to be having permissions issues)

However, in the other screenshot you'll see that I have set all but one test plan to be owned by root & wheel.

  • Multi-destination backups
I can't get it to work for any set of options at all.

Ideally I'd be able to select 2 'cloud' targets though - B2 for 'real' off-site cloud for true disasters and a Minio server on my local network for normal recovery efforts.

  • Obfuscated filenames
Interesting, that option is in a screenshot of the Windows client but doesn't exist on my Mac.
