MSP360 RMM Agent High CPU usage with Bitdefender GravityZone (EDR)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently testing MSP360 RMM in my lab environment. I must say, I find the product very interesting so far, but I’ve run into a strange behavior on my Windows 11 endpoints.

I am using the latest available version of the RMM agent.

On machines running Bitdefender GravityZone (EDR + Firewall), the RMM.Agent process spikes to 10-20% CPU for a few minutes, returns to normal for about 30 seconds, and then starts climbing again in a loop.

Interestingly, I don’t see this behavior on endpoints running Microsoft Defender for Business (even with EDR/XDR active).

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Added the RMM agent process to Bitdefender’s scan exclusions.

  • Temporarily disabled all advanced Bitdefender features (Advanced Threat Control, Firewall, etc.).

Despite these steps, the CPU spikes persist. The agent itself appears to be fully functional, but the resource usage is inconsistent.

Does anyone have experience with this specific combination or suggestions on how to further tune Bitdefender to avoid this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Nico,

Thank you for the positive vibe about our RMM!

There were cases where RMM service might interfere with some endpoint protection software. However, almost all of them were resolved. Most probably EPP is blocking some RMM actions, forcing it to perform several CPU consuming retries.
