So I got a full backup image and incrementals that are running on a schedule. I looked at the backups for multiple workstations in different locations this morning and there are backups that have been running for hours. I have no idea if they are full or incremental.

On top of that I thought Synthetic full backups were only merging the the previous incremental backups so there would be no need to run actual full backups. Am I mistaken in this?

Synthetic Fulls integrate current changes since the last incremental with existing incremental information in storage. The process requires far less local IO and far less internet transfer. The total backup time can be twice as fast or better, but it depends on the amount of work required at Wasabi.
