Object-lock can only be enabled when new bucket is created.

With the legacy format, it was possible, but the New Backup Format only handles archives. Plus, there's this neat feature called Online Access. It lets you get into the Backup Storage tab without needing full console access or any extra software. https://help.mspbackups.com/organization/settings/online-access

I assume you are using Legacy backup format and destination is Azure. Have you tried the New Backup Format?

S3 provider should support "in-cloud copy" function

Leonardo, looks like you problem has a different reason. 7.9.3 included a fix that solved the problem for SamboNZ. I will send you an email requesting logs, so that we can investigate.

Old files will be purged according to the retention policy

The software applies its own retention policy exclusively to the storage destination specified in the backup plan settings. If your second bucket grows in size, it's likely because nothing is being purged from it. Additionally, it's important to understand that if you change the retention setting in the backup plan, the new setting will only be applied to new backups. All previous backups will retain according to the retention settings at the time of the backup.

Help me understand your setup. You have a VM host with VMs where MSP360 Backup Desktop is installed, and you are backing up these VMs to a network attached storage. Is this correct?

The software will generate a prefix for your backup

Are you using MSP360 Managed Backup or MSP360 Standalone Backup?

First, you need to update the software to the latest version, as you are currently far behind.
