  • Address Book in V2.3
The previous version was "unlimited" I believe. It would be nice if that were the case as then there would be no issue at all. However, if a limit MUST be chosen, for me, it would be 20. 10 at the very least. Even though I do not have a business and do this for my own hobby, I have more than 10 in my list as I manage many remote unattended computers (none of them used for business). If I had to choose a absolute minimum where I could use the program satisfactorily, it would be 10. I have started a database to contain the computer ID and encryption files so I can manually insert them if necessary. This was not needed when the directory was unlimited. I understand you are providing this program free of charge which I really appreciate. However, this limitation has me confused. Thank you for your help.

I assume, since this product is intended for business, that there will be a charge or subscription charge at some point?
  • Address Book in V2.3
Nope, says "Remote Assistant is designed for business customers only. Personal emails are not allowed for signup".
  • Address Book in V2.3
I tried to sign up for Managed Remote assistant but was refused because I am not a business.

Limiting the Address Book to 5 records is a poor choice in my opinion. 20 may have been a reasonable number but not 5. This is a serious degradation of the usefulness of the program. I see that I can manually enter the encryption key for connections not contained the in the address book, but the decision to limit to 5 entries in the address book was a poor decision.

To add, I am an amateur radio operator and I manage several unattended computers. The limitation only 5 unattended computers will limit its usefulness for me.
  • Service Key request failed.
I have been testing several times each day and the service has not failed after unchecking the FastBoot. It appears that this was the problem. Thank you for your great service. A different issue that I have noticed but is minor is that if the user is in a session and "Locks" the desktop (with Windows, not with Remote Assistant) the desktop shows waiting for remote service to start, but never recovers. I must disconnect and reconnect to see the desktop. If I "Log off" instead, it seems to work fine. Issues that I have previously reported seem to have been resolved. You guys are doing great!

I am still testing but I think I may have found a possible cause to this issue. The "Turn on fast startup" in the power options of Win10 allows the computer to go to 'sleep' instead of a true shutdown. The cloudberry service may not always work properly when the computer wakes up from sleep. I have unchecked the box causing a true shutdown and so far the service has not failed. I will advise if I find this does not actually fix the problem.

I am not sure which log you wish me to send to you. Please guide me to the Event Logs that you wish for me to send. Please note, this is not exactly a crash. It appears to be related to the Remote Assistant service. It is running when the computer does not respond but when I stop and restart the service the program then responds normally.

I am having this same problem with one of my computers with version 2.2.0.47 . I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times now and the problem keeps coming back. Using a another remote program, if I stop and restart the Remote Assistant service it will start responding. But, changing to "Delayed Start" didn't fix it either.
  • New version 2.0.0.9
I have been trying the new 2.0.0.9 version. The LAN Direct connection works nicely for other computers on the network, even via VAN. I still see one major issue, from before and a new issue. The previous issue is the problem of being disconnected when logging out of a computer profile. Sometimes I want to log out of one profile, such as admin, and log into another, such as user. But, when I log off of the first I get disconnected requiring reconnecting before I can continue. The second issue seems to be a new issue that I never saw prior to this version. If I lock a user profile then log back in, sometimes the screen is blank. Moving my mouse around on the screen appears to 'repaint' the icons and other items that should be there. Still, this is a great program and I love using it since another project keeps thinking I am a business user and limits my connection time to a useless amount of time. Thank you for this product and moving it forward.
  • Help us choose the next big feature
This version of Remote Assistant came at the perfect time as Teamviewer seems to be eliminating support for their free service. This product works great. Some suggestions. 1. Support for multiple sessions, 2. Allow keeping remote desktop wallpaper (sometimes remote computer is left with a black screen after disconnect), 3. Allow ability to type in folder address for download directory without browsing as network drives are not always available via browsing, 4. Allow logoff on remote machine without disconnecting session, 5. Allow way to copy remote computer list to another computer without manually entering all of the access info again, 6. A remote computer has a hiding taskbar can only access the task bar when in full screen mode. Great product and allowing this to be used as freeware is very impressive and much appreciated!
