  • Trying to understand the interface and how to perform full file and incremental file backups
Matt changing names FULL to incremental are 2 different worlds I believe. Otherwise, just for kidding would have the same name. Please provide me with a real time example. I can understand by seeing predefined templates (incremental backup every week, block level every day) what do you mean but I think that is really misleading saying incremental. See your post on site ( https://www.cloudberrylab.com/resources/blog/incremental-backup-guide/ ) and see ( An incremental backup is a type of backup that copies only data that was changed since the previous backup.) That a block level does this, takes the differences, and a full deletes the differences when does a full when for example the file is more that 50% raised in size. STILL Very Confusing.
  • real case scenario
Thanks Matt. I hope I would remember that next time.
  • Incremental backup every day

First, regarding the backup operators group:
it is a local or global group that contains the user rights you need to back up and restore files and folders. Members of the Backup Operators group can backup and restore files and folders regardless of ownership, permissions or auditing settings. In short, it allow you to bypass permissions for your files.
You can find more info via Google.
    Matt

Assuming, administrator of a PC or a Server or a domain controller has that rights never used that before.
  • What does this error mean... (Signed Expiry Time)
I have seen this on 2 of customers. The error on them it appears in some backup reports, then disappears in some other backup reports, then comes again...and continues on and off. It might be slow connection..some timeouts..it is difficult to trace that problem. The backup result though is always succeed meaning that in report there not reported files not being backed up.
  • Trying to understand the interface and how to perform full file and incremental file backups
According what you are saying can you explain why in predefined templates has incremental backup every week and block level every day?
  • Trying to understand the interface and how to perform full file and incremental file backups
Is somewhere documented what the msp360 meaning now when someone does incremental backup or block level backup what is their new real relationship?
  • Trying to understand the interface and how to perform full file and incremental file backups
What exactly do you mean? (The old "Full" terminology was misleading since the software never backed up all the files in full after the initial backup). In documentation, Full supposed to taken the file from the beginning and delete all block level backups. You are saying that that the Full you were saying in your documentation was not actually working? The full backup was not misleading. I think now is misleading and confusing.
  • Microsoft Hyper-V VSS Writer' writer status is invalid.
Hello Matt. From the time I followed your guide I have now this error in Application Log

Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object.

    Details:
    AddCoreCsiFiles : BeginFileEnumeration() failed.

    System Error:
    Access is denied.
    .
  • Microsoft Hyper-V VSS Writer' writer status is invalid.
Hello. In most of the machines I do backups more than 20 I got this error everytime backup is executed. Backup is executed normally though but I am wondering what is the cause of this error.

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80070005. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process.

  • VSS and Veracrypt
Yes I used default VSS. BTW in windows 10 with bitlocker in which encrypts the whole disk CDD operates with normally.
  • VSS and Veracrypt
In Both systems W10 and W7 used VSS
  • VSS and Veracrypt
Same test, Veracrypt encrypted volume, different OS (windows 7) cbb operates normally. So there are significant differences in VSS in between Windows 10 and Windows 7.

  • Minio Windows Server
Is minio working currently and is steady for Linux?
  • Minio Windows Server
Ok. But this is not written in somewhere in managed backup and someone can choose minio server and find a hard time to make it work in Windows just like myself.
  • Minio Windows Server
Minio server is working normally on Windows Server as well as in Windows deskop system. What is that it does not work is the CBB product having as a target storage a minio server storage system. Minio server operates normally as a Server itself in windows by means that you can upload files manuall via web gui.
  • Retention Policy
Brilliant. Thanks. That is all I wanted. I will keep an eye on this changed setting to see if everything goes well...and let you know.
  • Backup Vmware
I got this guys and thank you. So instead of doing an installation of 6.5 directly it is better to go to 5.5 first to maintain the compatibility.
BTW, customer has lost credentials for hiw vmware product and I am asking you if have seen a backwards way of retrieving details, by mean providing the ESXI Lic and get access by somehow to vmware downloads so could download the same version if available.
