    Hello,

Question: in a scenario where we backup a computer to an external local drive, we stop supporting that computer, delete it's backup plans, remove the MSP360 backup agent from the computer, but keep the storage on the local drive. If months later the customer asks us if we can still do a file level restore from that local drive, could we in fact do that? If this is possible, how do we accomplish this? Can this be accomplished via the portal and the agent? Regarding the agent, can this be done via any computer that has the agent?

The answer is yes, you can restore form old backups, but they will be old. You can restore files from the MBS portal or from the agent console as long as there is a licence for the machine.

    Hello Steve,

Thank you for the reply. Would you be able to expand upon that a bit? Are you saying you always have to have a license on the computer to do a restore of one of that computer's backup? What if the license has been removed, can you re-add it and then restore from a backup prior to the license being removed?

    Thank you.
